A Message From A Spirit Guide Bird

A bird landed on my shoulder!

At the beginning of an outdoor family dinner celebration my grandson noticed a small bird sitting on one of our chairs. It appeared to be a bit distressed. The chair was carefully pulled away from the table to give the bird space to safely fly away. A moment later it took off and landed on my shoulder and remained for two whole minutes!

The small bird was a sparrow and I began to wondered about the spiritual meaning of this experience as birds are amazing creatures that have much to share with people from the healing traditions around the globe. I know everything can be an omen, but I choose not to micromanage that ideology. I know birds represent freedom and are often thought to bring messages from the spirit world.

I have worked with spirit animals in my healing practice for many years.  During healing session I sense the presence of different animals and know they are part of the spirit guide family. Never birds! My spiritual healing training taught me that animals and birds are messengers from the Divine, Spirit, Universe, God, whatever you choose. They bring awareness and guidance.

Since this little sparrow landed on my shoulder I decided that I needed to become aware of the symbolism of that particular bird.

Off to Google research…

I learned that some superstitions dictate a bird landing on you is good luck, pooping on you is greater luck, my sparrow dropped one on my shoulder. That’s really good luck. Yippee! I discovered the sparrow offers happiness and is a very powerful animal totem. It is said to mean you don’t need big stuff to be happy. If you are satisfied with yourself and if you feel comfortable, then you can be happy.

According to the World Bird website the sparrow means productivity, diligence and creativity
